Thousands of hands
The “My Dream” performance of the Chinese Disabled People’s Performing Art Troupe, which has been praised at venues around the world for its exceptional artistry, will showcase the talents of artists who have overcome considerable difficulties and hardships to capture the hearts of thousands. With 21 young deaf-mute performers, the dance featured required all the dancers to perform in sync as one being in rhythm with the music. Without the ability to hear or speak, the received help through two women instructing them in signs language. It was breathtaking to say the least.
The disabled troupe has performed in 40 countries and regions since its creation in 1987, including such world-class theaters as Carnegie Hall in the United States and La Scala Theatre in Italy.
Recently the Chinese government has express the possibility to include "The Thousands Hands Dance" in the Beijing Olympics 2008 opening ceremony, so let all look forward to this spectacular performance.
